Maury County Public Schools Achieves Historic Advancing School District Designation from State

Maury County Public Schools earned an Advancing School District designation from the Tennessee Department of Education for the first time in the school district’s history! The designation is part of the state’s accountability system, which evaluates school districts on multiple indicators, including student academic growth, achievement, grade-band success rates, chronic absenteeism, English language proficiency progress, and graduation rates. The recognition follows several years of steady districtwide improvement, highlighted by rising achievement scores and stronger outcomes across grade levels.

Three Maury County Public Schools Earn Tennessee Reward School Distinction

Highland Park Elementary School, J.E. Woodard Elementary School, and Mt. Pleasant High School, have been named Tennessee Reward Schools, the state’s highest recognition for schools in overall academic achievement and student growth. The Tennessee Department of Education designates Reward Schools each year based on the state’s accountability system. To earn this distinction, schools must demonstrate exceptional academic performance, significant student growth, and success in closing achievement gaps among student groups. Reward Schools reflect excellence across multiple indicators including achievement, growth, attendance, and readiness benchmarks.

U.S. News and World Report Ranks J.E. Woodard Elementary School Among the Top 40% of Elementary Schools in Tennessee

J.E. Woodard Elementary School ranks among the top 40% of elementary schools in Tennessee, according to U.S. News & World Report. J.E. Woodard Elementary School placed 355 out of 926 elementary schools in Tennessee. Schools were assessed on their shares of students who were proficient or above proficient in their mathematics and reading/language arts state assessments. Half of the formula assessed the scores themselves, and the other half incorporated the test results in the context of socioeconomic demographics.

2026-2028 School Calendars Approved by Maury County Public Schools Board of Education

The Maury County Public Schools Board of Education approved the academic calendars for the 2026-2027 and 2027-2028 school years. Final approval will come from the State.

  • What to do when you arrive on campus?
    Upon arrival, all visitors shall report to the main office of the school or district complex. Any visitor attempting to gain access through other entrances will be denied entry. At this time, visitors will be directed by signage to press the video call box. Once the call box is pressed, a staff member will ask you to state your name and reason for your visit. All visitors shall present a valid government-issued photo identification card. This identification will also be scanned into our electronic visitor management program (RAPTOR). Once the scan is complete, a badge will be printed for the visitor to wear in a visible manner during the duration of their visit.

  • What to do next?
    All visitors will be given clear and concise directions on entering the building and proceeding with their business. Again, we welcome all visitors to our district and look forward to seeing you soon. We also thank you for doing your part to keep our district safe.
